The authorities of Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi will allocate $109.87 million from its budget for the Vinh Tuy Bridge expansion project for connecting the inner city of Hanoi and outlying district of Long Bien.

The project was initially proposed to be implemented under the build and transfer format with Him Lam Corporation as the investor. However, the city decided to change the format into a public-invested one after the government halted all BT projects and Him Lam withdrew from the project.

The expansion project includes a new bridge with a total length of 3.5 km. The construction is expected to start in March 2020 and the operations are expected to start by 2022. The project will help improve the traffic in the north-eastern part of Hanoi.
