Five new HSR lines between Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces are expected to be built by 2025. These rail lines will ensure smooth transportation of goods and improve logistical services between major seaports. These rail lines will connect to the national railway system and cross-border transport routes. The new rail lines are a part of a larger project for the city’s logistics sector. Under the project for the logistics sector, Ho Chi Minh City has asked the transport ministry to approve an upgrade of the existing North-South railway, ensuring an average speed of 80-90 km per hour for passenger trains and 50-60 km per hour for freight trains.
