PetroVietnam has produced the first condensate and gas from phase 2A project in the offshore Su Tu Trang field in Vietnam. Su Tu Trang lies about 62 km from Vung Tau city, in Block 15-1 of the Cuu Long basin. The production sharing contract (PSC), which was signed in September 1998, gives PetroVietnam a 50 per cent stake in the field. Gas from Block 15-1 and the Cuu Long oil fields is delivered through PetroVietnam Gas pipelines to supply power and fertiliser to users in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese government authorised the phase 2A development plan in December 2019. Between June 2021 and September 2025, the investors intend to produce 193 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 63 million barrels of condensate, or ultra-light crude oil, with an anticipated capital expenditure (CAPEX) of roughly USD140 million.
