Shell Eastern Trading has delivered 70,000 tonnes of LNG to the Thi Vai LNG terminal, marking the first shipment of the clean fuel imported in Vietnam. The cargo will be used to trial run operation on the terminal which is owned by Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS).
The terminal can receive LNG carriers with a capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes. Currently, it is the only facility in Vietnam that is eligible for importing and exporting LNG.
Gas from the Thi Vai Terminal will be supplied to two nearby power plants, currently being developed by Pietrovietnam Power.
