Several firms, including Saigon Industry Corporation, Power Generation Corporation 2, and Ho Chi Minh City Electric Power Trading Investment Corporation, will commence construction works on a 1.2 trillion dong ($57 million) wind-to-power plant in the central province of Ninh Thuan in June 2014. The project will be carried out in two phases: the first phase that will cost 190 billion dong is slated for completion in 2015. It involves the construction of three 1 MW turbines. Currently, 50 wind power projects in 15 provinces, with a total capacity of 5,000 MW, have been registered. However, only three, with a total capacity of 50 MW, have been connected to the national grid due to a lack of appropriate feed-in tariffs and capital. Investors of wind power projects in the country have proposed that the government raise buying prices to $0.12–0.135 per kWh to encourage investment in the industry.
