Sarawak Shell Bhd, a Royal Dutch Shell Public Limited Company subsidiary, has announced that it has taken a final investment decision (FID for the Timi gas plant development project in Malaysia. The company has collaborated with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Brunei Energy Exploration to develop the gas plant

The Timi field is located about 200 km off Sarawak’s coast in Malaysia. The facility includes a wellhead platform powered by a solar and wind hybrid renewable power (RE) system. The unmanned platform weighs around 60 per cent less than a traditional Tender Assisted Drilling wellhead platform. Two additional wells will be drilled at the site as part of this project.

The Timi project is expected to produce up to 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at its peak and will deliver gas output to the F23 production hub through an 80 km pipeline. The project aims to support future expansion in the central Luconia area.
