The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has opened the Estrella-Pantaleon bridge to traffic in Philippines. The bridge was built through a PHP1.46 billion funding from the Government of People’s Republic of China. The bridge was built by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) and is intended to help reduce traffic congestion on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.

The four-lane bridge project has a total length of 506.46 metres, including a 50.5 metre approach road on Estrella Street, a 66 metre Makati approach bridge, a 146 metre main bridge, and a 243.96 metre approach road on Barangka Drive connecting to Pantaleon Street in Mandaluyong City. The new structure will be able to accommodate around 50,000 vehicles each day and travellers from Mandaluyong City will be able to access Makati’s central business district in five minutes.
