The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has selected 175 companies to add around 5.2 GW of new renewable capacity in Thailand. Of this, around 335 MW will be generated from biogas, wind power will contribute 1,500 MW, on-ground solar farms will add around 2,368 MW while solar farms with energy storage systems will contribute 1,000 MW to the total capacity.
However, biogas project bidders failed to pass the investment criteria.
Developers that were selected by ERC include Gulf Energy Development, which plans to develop 28 projects with a combined capacity of 2 GW and B Grimm Power, which will develop eight solar and one wind project with a combined capacity of 339 MW. Absolute Clean Energy plans to add 18 new projects with a total capacity of 112MW; Thai Solar Energy will add 100 MW from eight projects, while BCPG has plans for five projects that will add 12 MW.
ERC has also launched phase 2 with a capacity target of 3.6GW. The same tariff rates as the first phase will apply.
