Francis Saturnino Juan has been named the new chairperson of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) in the Philippines, succeeding Monalisa Dimalanta. His appointment will take effect on August 8, 2025.

Juan, who previously served as ERC Executive Director and was president and CEO of IEMOP, has received broad support from the energy sector. Industry associations—including PIPPA, PSSEA, PHILRECA, and MGen—welcomed his return, citing his regulatory experience and commitment to energy modernisation and consumer protection.

Stakeholders also outlined key priorities for the new leadership, including the resolution of recovery issues, pending petitions, and the reconsideration of recent ERC resolutions affecting electric cooperatives. Juan’s appointment is seen as timely amid the country’s ongoing energy transition efforts.
