Equinix has announced plans to expand into Indonesia with a USD74 million International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in Jakarta.

The new facility aims to support growing demand for digital infrastructure driven by rapid business digitalisation and Indonesia’s expanding digital economy. The country is emerging as a key interconnection hub in Southeast Asia, supported by a large digital-native population and increasing enterprise adoption of cloud services.

Major cloud providers, including Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud, have already established a presence in Indonesia, further driving demand for data centre capacity and connectivity solutions.

Equinix stated that the Jakarta IBX facility will enable local and international businesses to interconnect their digital infrastructure, supporting expansion into regional and global markets. The investment also reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in high-growth digital economies across Asia-Pacific.
