The Regional Taxi Operators Association (RTOA), representing around 70 per cent of taxi operators in Davao City, Philippines, has launched a pilot rollout of seven electric taxis as part of efforts to promote cleaner urban transport.

The pilot programme aims to collect operational data on vehicle performance, charging patterns, operating costs and passenger feedback to inform long-term fleet transition planning. The rollout is being implemented in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)–Davao, whose regional director expressed support for the move toward more environmentally friendly and reliable taxi services.
