The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three Japan-based companies, Mitsubishi Company (Thailand) Limited, Chiyoda Corporation, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Thailand) Company Limited to enhance clean hydrogen and ammonia production in Thailand. This initiative is known as the Study and Development Project on Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Production from Renewable Energy (RE) and is funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan.

The scope of the project includes conducting feasibility studies on hydrogen and ammonia production. It further includes the engineering, production of eco-friendly fuels from RE sources, and assessments of social, environmental, and economic impacts. Additionally, the project will explore storage, transportation, and business opportunities within EGAT’s areas of interest.

The partnership is a step forward in the global effort to combat climate change and drive innovation for cleaner energy production.
