EGAT has signed an MoU with state-owned power company Electricite du Laos (EDL) to strengthen energy security in Laos. According to the agreement, EGAT International Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of EGAT, will invest in power and related sectors in Laos. The focus areas will be high voltage transmission lines, power generation, power plant maintenance, and fibre optic telecommunications. The deal will support the development of an ASEAN power grid aimed at strengthening electricity security and the telecommunications sector.
