Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has announced plans to add 83 MW of clean energy capacity by the end of 2024 in the Philippines. This expansion is part of a broader strategy by its parent company, First Philippine Holdings (FPH), to meet net-zero carbon emissions goals.
The new capacity includes several geothermal power plants like 29 MW in Bicol, 5.6 MW in Negros Occidental, 20 MW in Tanawon, and 28 MW in Leyte. EDC is also implementing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance its geothermal facilities.
