Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has received the ASEAN OSHNET Excellence Award, for its Mount Apo Geothermal Project (MAGP). The award is presented by the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network and honours organisations and individual’s efforts in ensuring occupational safety and health. EDC was the only Philippines-based company to have received this award.
MAGP generates 108 MW of the company’s overall 1,181 MW geothermal portfolio. Geothermal generation by EDC accounts for 62 per cent of the Philippines’ installed geothermal capacity and about 20 per cent of total installed renewable capacity.
