Energy Development Corporation (EDC), a geothermal energy producer, has launched a multi-sectoral movement to achieve net zero carbon emissions among Philippines-based businesses. The campaign is dubbed the Net Zero Carbon Alliance, and is in line with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) aim to reduce emissions by 75 per cent by 2030.

The Net Zero Carbon programme is designed to provide partners with a roadmap to carbon neutrality by sharing best practise methods and ramping up carbon emission offsetting and tracking. The programme will also assist in acquiring third-party certification of carbon emissions and offsets as well as access to green financing.

EDC is one of the Philippines’ major 100 per cent renewable energy (RE) firm and has an installed capacity of about 1,500 MW. The firm accounts for over 40 per cent of the country’s RE output and supplies nearly 10 per cent of the country’s overall electricity consumption.
