The Energy Development Corporation (EDC), a global renewable energy leader based in the Philippines, has been awarded the Green Company of the Year title at the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability [ACES] Awards, 2024. This accolade recognises EDC’s commitment to revolutionise the renewable energy sector in the Philippines through inn­o­vative advancements. It also aims to take steps towards conservation of biodiversity, forest resto­ration and climate change mitigation. The award recognises EDC’s leadership in the areas of sustainability and green innovation across Asia.

EDC is a pioneer in clean energy transformations. It launched the BINHI programme in 2008, to protect endangered native tree species, rehabilitate degraded forests and preserve biodiversity, among others. EDC is First Gen Corporation’s 100 per cent renewable energy-based subsidiary with close to 1,500 MW total installed capacity.
