The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started implementing various infrastructure projects worth about PhP 278 million in the island province of Catanduanes. There are 45 infrastructure projects listed for Catanduanes under the DPWH budget for 2015. These projects include multi-purpose school buildings, roads, bridges and a water system. So far, four clusters of the projects, involving the construction of 13 multi-purpose buildings at a cost of PhP 1.5 million each, have been bid out. Also included in the list are local road construction projects worth a total of PhP 49 million, while PhP 9.3 million has been allotted for improvements of national roads and bridges along the Catanduanes Circumferential Road, covering 2 km of intermittent sections. A sum of PhP 46.5 million has been earmarked for the rehabilitation, reconstruction and upgradation of damaged national roads, including drainage at the San Andres–Virac section, while a total of PhP 104 million will go towards the construction and maintenance of bridges in Caramoran town. Further, a PhP 3 million potable water system will be built in Caramoran.
