The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines will deploy drones and satellites to track the progress of major infrastructure projects. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), is aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and public oversight of government-funded works.
The monitoring system, called the Digital Information for Monitoring and Evaluation (DIME) Project, will use satellite imagery, drone footage, and geotagging to provide real-time updates on transport projects, including roads, railways, and other facilities. DOTr will also supply DBM with detailed project data, such as environmental and social impact reports, to support mapping and validation processes.
Through the platform, the public will be able to report issues and share feedback, ensuring that government projects deliver intended benefits. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance transparency in public spending and infrastructure development.
