The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced plans to turn 22 hectares of land in Calamba City into a depot for the Philippine National Railways’ (PNR) new station. The site will be utilised to construct the Banlic Depot Site and Calamba Central Station, both of which are part of the DOTr’s North-South Commuter Railway project.

Partial operations on the rail line are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2025, while completed commercial operations are set to start during 2028. Once the rail line is operable,  commuters will be able to reduce travel time from Alabang to Calamba to 30 minutes, to Clark to 90 minutes, and will also cut travel time from Makati to Calamba to just 60 minutes.
