The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of Philippines will award 34 contracts for major railway projects between now and 2022. DOTr had awarded 35 rail contracts by the end of 2020, with an average contract value of PHP16.8 billion per project. The average contract size will rise to PHP22 billion due to the additional contracts.  All of these contracts will be financed out of the PHP1.7 trillion rail budget”

Currently, 17 projects are being procured with another 17 projects scheduled for the future. The Light Rail Transit (LRT) line 1 extension to Cavite, LRT-2 West Extension, three contracts for the Metro Manila Subway project, 12 contracts for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark phase 2 project, Mindanao Railway and are all now in the procurement stage. DOTr will award nine additional contracts for the construction on PNR Clark phase 2 within 2021. The department will also award the civil work contracts for the PNR Bicol segment by the end of 2021.
