The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has obtained USD6 million to fund feasibility studies for proposed rail projects in the Philippines. Over the next few months, the amount will be used to fund studies for the Panay Railway, the Bataan Railway, and the North Long Haul Interregional Railway projects.

Additionally, the agency is also in the process of receiving additional funds for studies for the San Mateo Railway and the Northern Mindanao Railway projects, as well as the Philippine transport system master plan.

All of these rail projects are a part of the Government of the Philippines’ goal of reviving and upgrading the existing system in the country.
