The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines is planning to extend the Manila Metro Rail Transit-7’s (MRT-7) route to include two more municipalities in Bulacan. The agency is considering the feasibility of expanding the under-construction line to the towns of Santa Maria and Norzagaray.

Three options have been proposed for the extension. Under the first option, SMC-Mass Rail Transit 7 Incorporated will extend its ongoing construction project from San Jose del Monte to Norzagaray and Sta. Maria. The second option is to conduct another study – from the North-South Commuter Railway to Balagtas while the third option proposes considering the project under a public-private partnership in the future.

The MRT-7 is a rapid transit line currently under construction in the Philippines. When completed, the line will be 22.8 km long and will have 14 stations.
