The Philippines’ Department of Transportation (DoTr) has invited bids to supply seven eight-car trains (56 railcars) for the Malolos-Clark Railway Project and the North South Railway Project-South Line, two upcoming commuter rail lines under the North-South Commuter Railway project. The procurement of these trains is being financed by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The last date for the submission of bids is May 28, 2021.

The North-South Commuter Railway project is one of the largest mass transit projects to be undertaken in the Philippines and is part of the Build, Build, Build programme. The commuter rail line will comprise three sections, which will collectively span 147 km. The project is also being financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of the Philippines.
