The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have officially opened a 313 km bike lane network to traffic in Metro Manila. In addition to the network in Metro Cebu and in Metro Davao, the inauguration takes the completed bike lane network in the Philippines to 497 km.

The Metro Manila network will pass through 12 cities of Manila, Quezon City, Pasig, Marikina, San Juan, Caloocan, Taguig, Makati, Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Mandaluyong. The lanes vary in width from 1.5 to 3 metres depending on the road’s design and are constructed in a manner to optimise road space by accommodating 1,250 riders per hour per metre of road. Bicycle lanes will soon be available in other sections of Metro Manila as well.
