The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) has broken ground for Bulk Supply Substation 1 of the long-delayed Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) in Valenzuela City. The two-storey facility, to be linked with Meralco’s switching station, will house two transformers to power the 17-station subway network.
The PHP488.48-billion project, originally slated for partial operation in 2021, the MMSP is now expected to partially open by 2028 and reach full operation by 2030 or 2031. The subway aims to halve travel time between Quezon City and NAIA to 35 minutes.
