The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have deployed electric vehicles (EVs) and transport-related equipment in Iloilo City and Baguio City in the Philippines. The move is a part of the Promotion of Low Carbon Urban Transport Systems in the Philippines (LCT) and will be funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The programme will provide a model for EV transition and aims to address issues in shifting to EVs in public transport, including the cost of shifting and policy and regulatory reforms.

In Iloilo City, LCT deployed two electric public utility vehicles (PUVs) by Aerostar 1 Multi-Purpose Cooperative and two bike counters to enable efficient and accurate data gathering for improving and scaling up active transport efforts.
