The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is set to upgrade Tacloban DZR Airport to manage the growing passenger traffic. The PhP 2.12 billion development project that is expected to be implemented by 2016 will commence after the finalisation of contractors for the construction of the semi-permanent terminal building (at a cost of PhP 18.8 million) of DZR Airport. Tacloban DZR Airport is the country’s eighth busiest airport; it services flights to and from Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo. Apart from DZR Airport, DOTC plans to undertake similar projects for the Clark and Puerto Princesa airports.
