The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is likely to bid out a separate contract for the extension of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) to Dasmariñas, Cavite. Under its current extension plan, the project will only be extended till Bacoor in Cavite. The proposed extension to Dasmariñas would entail a separate study and approval from several agencies led by the National Economic and Development Authority. The Cavite extension project that would increase the span of LRT-1 from 20.7 km to 32.4 km will have a new end point at Bacoor instead of Baclaran. It will comprise 10 stations, a 10.5 km long viaduct, support beams, and three intermodal facilities.
