The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) has suggested revisions to the bidding terms for the PhP 17.5 billion Mactan-Cebu International Airport project. The changes include extending the concession period from 20 years to 25 years and transferring the liability of payment of a certain amount of real property taxes to the government. DOTC has sought the National Economic and Development Authority’s (NEDA) approval for these changes. The modifications were prompted by the results of the one-on-one meetings between the special bids and awards committee (SBAC) and seven pre-qualified groups over the past few months. The SBAC has reset the bidding deadline for November 15, 2013 to give the pre-qualified groups sufficient time to prepare their proposals for the project.
