The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has decided to procure new coaches from Spain for the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3, after learning that the delivery of second-hand coaches would take almost the same amount of time to reach Manila. Earlier, DOTC had considered buying second-hand coaches from Spain’s Metro de Madrid, as these could be procured at a lower price than the new ones. However, given that the delivery of both types of coaches will take a similar amount of time, DOTC is now planning to get brand-new coaches after one and a half years.
