DOTC expects the delivery of additional 48 trains under MRT Line 3 expansion project by May 2016

According to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), an additional 48 trains under the PhP 3.8 billion metro rail transit (MRT) Line 3 expansion project are expected to be delivered by May 2016. The prototypes of the new trains will be delivered by December 2014 for testing on the rails of MRT 3. China’s Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Company CNR Group that has qualified for the bidding submitted a bid of PhP 3.76 billion, about PhP 10 million lower than the approved budget for the contract.
