The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) has signed an agreement with the regional government of Santa Rosa, Laguna to launch the Smart City Assessment and Roadmap Development of Santa Rosa City project.

The project will be led by DOST-Calabarzon in partnership with the Philippine Development Academy (DAP). This six-month project will assess Sta. Rosa City’s progression toward becoming a smart city. It will be followed by the creation of a smart city roadmap, which will comprise a list of practical smart city solutions and integrated interventions that will help the city develop and transition into a smart city.

This move is in line with the Government of Philippines’ commitment in completing its six ongoing smart city projects, as announced during the 4th ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) Annual Meeting. Other ongoing smart city development projects in the Philippines include the Cebu City’s Bus Rapid Transit System and Digital Traffic System, Davao City’s Converged Command and Control Centre and Intelligent Transportation and Traffic Systems with Security, and City of Manila’s Command Centre Upgrade and E-government Services.
