The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) has approved Manila Electric Company’s (Meralco) 2025 Power Supply Procurement Plan (PSPP), enabling the utility to acquire nearly 3,000 MW of power through a Competitive Selection Process from 2026 to 2032. The approved plan includes five CSPs to be launched this year, with a mix of renewable and conventional sources aimed at improving energy reliability and supporting the country’s clean energy targets.

Meralco plans to secure 2,126 MW from renewable sources across baseload and mid-merit supply, aligning with the national target of 35 percent renewable energy (RE) by 2030. The remaining capacity will come from conventional sources. The staged timeline ensures a balance of energy security and cost stability for over 8 million consumers. Publications for procurement start as early as April 2025, with the latest set for Q2 2031.
