The Department of Energy (DoE) has announced the commissioning of a 45 kW hydroelectric power plant in Isabela. It utilised funding of PhP 62 billion from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In 2013, JICA had granted a total of PhP 440 million for hydropower projects in Isabela and Ifugao. Currently, an 810 kW plant is in the pipeline in Ifugao, which will utilise the remaining PhP 378 million from the JICA grant. This plant is expected to be completed by early 2015.
