Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) has announced that it will offer wholesale 5G services at zero cost to mobile operators in Malaysia to encourage uptake during the initial rollout phase, after complaints that original prices were too high. Telecom operators will have access to free 5G wholesale services until March 31, 2022.

Starting December 15, 2021, DNB will initially deploy 5G services in three locations including parts of Kuala Lumpur, with plans for a wider deployment over the next few months.

Telekom Malaysia was the first Malaysia-based operator to sign up for 5G trials with DNB, but details about whether this partnership will be extended is yet to be disclosed.
