The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched a PHP50 billion investment plan for the 2022-2025 period to improve the Philippines’ digital infrastructure. Majority of the budget will be used on the development of the National Fibre Backbone (NFB) and the Accelerated Fibre Build through regional and provincial rings.

DICT will aid in the digitalisation of the country’s government, industry, and communities by establishing as well as providing quality, affordable, and reliable connectivity for the citizens. The agency’s three-year investment plans are in line with the Government of Philippines’ Build, Build, Build programme and will improve the country’s comparatively slow internet connection due to a shortage of fibre and cell towers.
