First Gen Corporation has submitted a request with the Department of Energy (DOE) to extend its permit to construct an offshore LNG terminal in the Philippines by six months. Completion of work on the terminal has been delayed to March 2023 instead of the initial deadline of September 2022. Reasons and details about the delay have not been disclosed by the company.

The proposed LNG terminal is one of the key projects under the Government of Philippines’ aim to start importing natural gas in 2022 to serve existing and future gas-fired power plants and meet supply shortages in the Malampaya gas field.

Additionally, the delivery of FSRU BW Paris, a floating storage regasification unit, has been delayed to Q3 2023.  It was initially scheduled for delivery in Q1 2023.
