DPWH has postponed the deadline for the final bidding of the PhP 34.5 billion Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project from January 20, 2014 to April 21, 2014 in response to bidders’ requests. Four groups, namely, Ayala’s Team Orion, Metro Pacific Development Corporation’s MPCALA Holdings, Inc., San Miguel Corporation’s Optimal Infrastructure Development, Inc., and Malaysia-based firm MTD Capital Bhd, are contending for the project. The 47 km CALAX will be a four-lane expressway that starts from Kawit in Cavite and ends at the Mamplasan interchange of the South Luzon Expressway in Bi’an, Laguna. Its design and construction are expected to be completed within four years of the awarding of the project.
