The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has approved PHP600 million in funding to develop the 4.6 MW Dupinga Mini Hydropower project located in Nueva Ecija. The loan will be extended under DBP’s Financing Utilities for Sustainable Energy Development Program, which aims to increase access to electricity services by financing utility-scale energy generation projects in the Philippines.

The hydropower project will be developed by Dupinga Mini Hydro Corporation (DMHC). The Dupinga Mini Hydropower facility is scheduled to commence operation in 2024. Water will be drawn from the Dupinga River system which will be used to generate clean and RE that will be supplied to Nueva Ecija 2–Area 2 Electric Cooperative Incorporated.

The mini hydropower project will support the Government of Philippines’ goal of increasing renewable’s share in the country’s overall power mix to 30 per cent by 2030.
