The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released PhP 933.8 million (1 PhP [Philippine peso] = $0.02) for a public-private partnership (PPP) project that will allow night landing operations in 14 airports across the country. These airports are located at Tuguegarao, San Jose (Mindoro), Busuanga, Naga, Legazpi, Roxas, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Pagadian, Ozamis, Cotabato, Butuan, and Surigao. Each airport will be equipped with the required facilities for night landing operations, which comprise airfield lighting systems, communication equipment, power supply systems, air disaster management systems, and other systems for managing air traffic services. DBM will release the funds to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and these funds will be chargeable against DOTC’s lump-sum appropriation for the PPP transport infrastructure projects, identified in the 2012 budget.
