DayOne Data Centres has announced plans to invest over USD7 billion (MYR28 billion) in Malaysia by the end of 2026. The investment will support the development of new data centre capacity, positioning Malaysia as the company’s largest global operational base. The move reflects growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services across Southeast Asia.
As part of the expansion, DayOne plans to double its workforce in Malaysia to around 1,200 direct employees, with an estimated 5,000 additional jobs created across the broader supply chain. The company will also expand its Global Shared Services Center in Kuala Lumpur, adding roles in finance, procurement, and corporate functions.
In parallel, the company is launching talent development initiatives, including internship and graduate programmes, and aims to train more than 1,000 data centre engineers at its regional hub in Johor. These efforts are designed to support workforce development alongside infrastructure growth.
