DayOne Data Centers has signed renewable energy supply agreements with TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. (TRe) and TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. (GenCo) to support the development of approximately 1.5 GWp of solar generation capacity and 2.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Malaysia. The agreements form part of the company’s strategy to power its growing data centre operations with renewable energy and support its long-term decarbonisation goals.

The projects will be implemented under Malaysia’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) through Bilateral Energy Supply Contracts (BESCs). The portfolio will comprise ground-mounted solar facilities and hybrid hydro-floating solar projects, alongside large-scale battery energy storage systems to enhance energy reliability and grid integration. The agreements also include the transfer of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), supporting DayOne’s target of sourcing 100% renewable energy across its operations by 2030 or earlier and reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42 per cent from 2025 levels.

The latest agreements build on a renewable energy supply arrangement signed with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in 2025, under which DayOne secured 500 MW of renewable energy for a 21-year period. The company currently operates hyperscale data centre campuses at Nusajaya Tech Park and Kempas Tech Park and expects its cumulative investment in Malaysia to reach RM28 billion by the end of 2026. The initiative also supports Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap, which targets net-zero emissions by 2050 and a 70 per cent renewable energy share in installed power generation capacity.
