Korea-based Daelim Industrial Company Limited has secured an order worth BND 122.7 million from the Brunei government for the construction of the Sungai Brunei Bridge. The bridge will be built across the Brunei river bisecting Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital. Daelim’s scope of work will include preparing an architectural design and constructing a cable-stayed bridge, access roads, 2 km road expansion, and two highway junctions. The construction period has been estimated at three years. Once completed, the Sungai Brunei Bridge will be the single largest bridge in Brunei. It will provide a direct connection between Kampong Sungai Kebun in the northern region and Jalan in the southern region. Currently, there is no direct connectivity between the two regions, forcing commuters to take a long detour.
