Passenger services have commenced on the 1,035-km-long China-Laos Railway, after a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The domestic services commenced in December 2021, with the rail line transporting nearly 14 million passengers within the countries till April 2023. Additionally, 18.38 million metric tons of cargo has been transported during the 15-month period.

Cross-border services will be provided by the Fuxing and Lancang bullet trains which can accommodate up to 720 passengers. Tickets will be available through the Laos-China Railway Company (LCRC) ticketing mobile app. Passengers will also be able to manage their journeys on the app.

During the 10-hour journey between Kunming and Vientiane, there will be eight stops out of which five will be in Laos.
