The Philippines Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has signed a PhP 5.27 billion contract for two China-aided bridge projects. The project will be implemented by CCCC Highway Consultant and the China Road & Bridge Corporation (contractor). With the signing of the contract, the works related to survey, design and construction of the Binondo-Intramuros and Estrella-Pantallon schemes will be initiated. The project will be funded by a Chinese grant and will cater to the cities of Manila, Makati and Mandaluyong. The Chinese grant will cover the design and construction of the bridges while DPWH will be responsible for the road right-of-way acquisition. CCCC Highway Consultant will be responsible for the detailed engineering design and construction supervision of the project. The China Road & Bridge Corporation will be responsible for the construction of the main bridge, approach bridge, connecting road, traffic engineering, lighting and other ancillary facilities. These works are expected to be completed in a period of 30 months.
