Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company has secured an SGD622 million contract to build a 2.5-km-long underground link between Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5) and Terminal 2 (T2) in Singapore. The SGD722 million link, known as the T2 Connection, will feature tunnels for an automated people-mover system and a separate system for baggage handling. It is scheduled to be operational in mid-2030 and the project is part of the ongoing infrastructural developments at the new Changi East development.

Preparatory work on the site is underway.

Upon completion, the T2 Connection aims to enhance inter-terminal connectivity, allowing seamless transfers between flights for passengers. Additionally, plans for public transport and road connectivity, including a direct link to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and an extension of the Thomson-East Coast Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line, are also underway. Despite delays, T5 is expected to commence operations in 2025, accommodating up to 50 million passengers annually.
