The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded the design and construction contract for a station and tunnels on the Cross Island Line (CRL) to a consortium of Gammon Construction & Engineering and Bachy Soletanche Limited, a subsidiary of VINCI. The civil contract is worth SGD644 million and includes modifications to the current Ang Mo Kio station on the North-South Line (NSL) as well as tunnels under the first phase of the CRL (CRL1). When finished, Ang Mo Kio station will serve as a CRL and NSL interchange. Work on the project is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021, with passenger service scheduled to start in 2030.

The CRL will connect key centres such Singapore Jurong Lake District, Changi region and Punggol Digital District to existing and prospective development projects in the eastern, north-eastern, and western corridors. Almost half of the CRL’s stations will be interchanges with other mass rapid transit (MRT) lines in Singapore.
