A consortium comprising JGC Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries has secured the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning (EPCC) contract from Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for a nearshore floating LNG facility in Malaysia. Scope of work includes FLNG topside, the associated onshore facilities, as well as the management of the overall project, which will be undertaken by JGC. Samsung will oversee the work on the FLNG hull and the modular fabrication of the topside.

Once operational in 2027, this will be the world’s first nearshore and will have a minimum production capacity of 2 million tonnes of LNG annually.
