A joint venture (JV) comprising EPR (Kuching) Sdn Bhd, Global Rail Sdn Bhd, and Mobilus Sdn Bhd has secured a contract from Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) for System Package 1 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project in Malaysia.
System Package 1 of the KUTS project involves supply of hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) vehicles, depot equipment and maintenance vehicles (DEMVs), the signalling and control system (S&CS), and the automatic platform gate (APG).
Sarawak Metro is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and is developing the KUTS project.
Passenger service on the system is scheduled to commence in stages. Phase 1 of the project is scheduled to be completed by 2027.
